Day by day, we commute to the office and then back home. Day by day. When is there time to see and experience the greater world around us? Two weeks a year when we race to a "vacation" spot and then rush home before the air in our lungs has cleared? The expanse of the wilderness, the romance of the city, the decay of civilization past... All have fallen victim to my lens and now reside on these pages. Browse through these selected moments. Moments captured and set aside to be enjoyed and examined. Not planned, not staged, but stolen from time through my eyes and placed into the stillness of a photograph.
Point Arena Lighthouse, California

If your plans include rowing to Hawaii, you might want to head to Point Arena, 35 miles South of Mendocino, on the California coast. Home to the tallest lighthouse on the West coast, Point Arena is also the closest point to Hawaii in the lower 48 United States.

Since 1959, the area has been home to the terminus of an undersea cable, and now fiber optic, telephone link to Hawaii and Japan.
